🤝 Historic Call for Christian Unity ✝️
His Holiness Pope Tawadros II and His Holiness Pope Leo XIV spoke on May 15 for the 13th Day of Friendship between the Coptic Orthodox and Catholic Churches.
Both Popes reaffirmed their commitment to Christian unity, deeper dialogue, and peace in the Middle East and Holy Land.
A powerful continuation of the historic friendship first established between Pope Shenouda III and Pope Paul VI over 50 years ago.
Let us continue praying for Christian unity and peace in the Middle East. 🙏
#copticorthodox #PopeTawadrosII #PopeLeoXIV #ChristianUnity #peaceinthemiddleeast #catholiccopticdialoguePope Leo and Tawadros II spoke by phone on May 15 to mark the 13th Day of Friendship between Catholics and Copts, reaffirming their commitment to Christian unity and peace in the Middle East. According to the Vatican, the conversation took place in a “cordial and fraternal atmosphere,” with both leaders expressing their shared desire to strengthen dialogue between the Catholic and Coptic Orthodox Churches and to overcome any obstacles to deeper relations. The two leaders also discussed ongoing efforts to promote peace in the Middle East, particularly in the Holy Land. In a message sent to Tawadros II for the occasion, Pope Leo highlighted the importance of continued collaboration among Christians in witnessing to peace and fraternity. He also praised the long-standing friendship between the Catholic and Coptic Churches, which began more than five decades ago with the historic meeting between Pope Paul VI and Shenouda III. The pope further expressed hope that ecumenical efforts would one day lead to visible Christian unity.
